St. Joseph's Parish - Mboro
 Brief History of the Parish

The Parish of Mboro is founded in 1912, by a Comboni missionary Fr. Angelo Arpe; during the time of the Chief Mboo Pekopo. In 1915, the mission of Mboro was closed due to lack of personnel, given the fact that Fr. Arpe was transferred to Kayango. In 1916, requested by our chief Mboo, Frs. Arpe, Vincenzo Ghiotto and Festa reopened the Mission of Mboro. In March 18th 1918 in the vigil of saint Joseph husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary was inaugurated a church and is dedicated to St. Joseph.

Objectives of the Celebration

We owned this moment of a hundred year of Evangelization as a time of renewal in faith of all the Christians. Moment of rejuvenate, moment of reconciliation; to thank God for this special gift to us for all these years; to imitate the pioneers faith and to reflect on our political and economic situation.

The Particularity of the Parish

Faithful in front of the Parish - Mboro 
St. Joseph's Parish of Mboro is the only Parish in Wau Diocese which unites many different tribes in one language and Culture through the education and Faith in Jesus Christ. It was from Mboro that, the Evangelization has been spread to other Parishes.

How is the St. Joseph' Parish


It is a beautiful Church on the hill. It is 35m. Long, by 12.50m. Built in 1927 and is renovated in 2006 by Fr. Justin Wanaawila. It has about 12 thousand populations.

Where is the Parish of Mboro?

Mboro is a Boma under the Besselia Payam, about 38 Km. along the Road Wau – Raga in Western Bhar el Ghazal.
